Looking into Nutrition

Past Jannie Horne of Love George receives some biscuits for distribution from Carl van Blerck.

When addressing “Food Security”, we have to be cognizant of the fact that a healthy diet must be part of the broader picture, otherwise, we are simply feeding the hungry.
Too many children are severely malnourished – this despite receiving meals at feeding centres – and a large reason for this is that they do not get the necessary intake of proteins, vitamins, and various other essential daily requirements.

The Garden Route Food Pantry is officially licensed by CPUT (Cape Peninsula University of Technology) to produce our very own brand of fortified products, under the label “Good4You Foods”.
Our first product is the Good4You Protein Biscuit – this biscuit has all the necessary ingredients to fight against malnutrition and gives our children a fighting chance for survival in a world that is suffering.
This holiday season, with thanks to the financial aid from the Eden Lions Club
and the Plangger family from Germany, we are able to produce over 15 000 protein biscuits for distribution across George.

Thanks to the LoveGeorge network of churches, who will be assisting with fair distribution.
This is a permanent project for the Garden Route – so we invite individuals or businesses to assist us by adopting a school, creche, playgroup, soup kitchen or any other feeding centre so that we can provide each child with a protein biscuit at the start of each day, throughout 2021.
