The implementation of Go George Phase 4A and 4B is on a sensitive stage according to the ministry of Transport. Locations like Lawaaikamp, Borcherds, Parkdene and Conville initially complained that the formal plan was first to implement the Go George buses in Thembalethu before implementing Phase 4B, and therefore expressed their infringement in this regard.

Discussions between the Western Cape Department of Transport, Uncedo and the George Community Forum reveal the matters for implementation are far from being resolved. The National Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, has been in contact with the Western Cape MEC for Transport, Bonginkosi Madikizela, to find solutions to this impede situation.

A statement released on this states: “the deliberations explored grievances raised by Uncedo Taxi Association and the George Community Forum in previous arrangements. Complaints relate to procurement processes, competition, compensation, infrastructure development and economic opportunities.” The outcome of the meetings from the second last week suggests that a possible way forward within 45 days should be wrought.
