National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) in Wildersness is inviting the public to their annual Open Day on Saturday, 1st October 2022. Please join us as we open our doors to showcase our life saving operations. Volunteers will be on hand to answer all your questions and give you a peak at what we do everyday. There will be fun activities for the whole family.

NSRI Lifeguard team will also be hosting the final swimming assessment to join the 2022 “Zero To Hero Lifeguard Project.

“Piloted in 2021, the aim of the Zero to Hero initiative is to ensure that access to training and employment as lifeguards is available to everyone, specifically disadvantaged communities who have may not previously been able to access training due to historical and socio-economic barriers. As an organisation, we strive to make a positive impact in our communities that we live and serve in. We want a better shared and safer future for everyone – this lifesaving initiative aims to achieve that,”
To register for this exciting opportunity, applicants must attend the swimming assessment on Saturday 01 October 2022 at 10h00 at the NSRI Rescue Base in Wilderness.

George falls within the Garden Route District Municipality, the third-largest district economy in the Western Cape, after the City of Cape Town and the Cape Winelands District. The Eden District is also geographically the third-largest district within the Western Cape Province. This district is informally known as the Garden Route, with George, its hub, nestled among the slopes of the majestic Outeniqua Mountains and flanked by the Indian Ocean. Because of the proximity to the ocean, the area enjoys a pleasant, temperate climate. George also enjoys the strategic advantage of being situated on the major transport routes between Cape Town in the south and Port Elizabeth in the east. This creates investment opportunities, particularly with regard to manufacturing, logistics and warehousing. Communications Manager: Chantel Edwards-Klose cjedwardsklose@george.gov.za
